There were four gas stations in cities across Transylvania County selling regular gas at the lowest price of $3.39 per gallon in the week ending May 4, according to GasBuddy.com.

The average cost of regular gas in cities within Transylvania County was $3.40 per gallon.

Of the 10 gas stations in cities within Transylvania County, five offer regular gas.

The $3.37 average price of regular gas in North Carolina was unchanged from the previous week.

Drivers across the U.S. have faced a rollercoaster of gas prices in recent months and years. Though the cost of a gallon of gas is dropping, experts suggest they may rise to $4 before the end of 2024.

Many analysts blame the COVID-19 pandemic for crushing oil demand and then oil production and Russia’s war against Ukraine.
