American Legion Post 88 will hold the annual Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony on May 25 at 11:00 a.m. on the front lawn of the Transylvania County Courthouse on East Main Street.
The event is organized in partnership with Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4309 and the Veterans History Museum of the Carolinas. It aims to bring together veterans, active military members, families, and residents of Transylvania County for a solemn tribute to local men and women who lost their lives while serving in the armed forces.
Organizers say that community participation is important for honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice. The ceremony provides an opportunity for people from across Transylvania County to reflect on the contributions and sacrifices made by service members from their own community.
The gathering is open to all, including those currently serving in uniform as well as civilians wishing to pay their respects. Attendees are encouraged by organizers to join in remembering those who have served and given their lives for their country.
This annual event continues a tradition of remembrance within Transylvania County, allowing residents each year to express gratitude toward fallen service members through public ceremony.
