The City of Brevard announced on May 14 that several downtown streets will be closed during White Squirrel Weekend and Memorial Day.

These street closures are planned to accommodate events taking place over the holiday weekend. The closures are expected to affect traffic patterns and access in the downtown area, so residents and visitors are encouraged to plan accordingly.

According to the city, Main Street from Broad Street to Rice Street will be closed from 6 a.m. until midnight on Friday, May 22. On Saturday, May 23, Main Street (from Caldwell Street to Rice Street) and Broad Street (from Probart Street to Morgan Street) will be closed all day. The same sections of Main and Broad Streets will remain closed throughout Sunday, May 24.

On Monday, May 25, Main Street (from Broad Street to Gaston Street) and Broad Street (from Probart Street to Jordan Street) will be closed until 2 p.m., according to the announcement.

The city has not provided additional background or context about these events in its statement. Community members are advised to stay informed about further updates regarding local traffic changes during this period.
