U.S. Congressman Chuck Edwards has announced the passage of supplemental disaster funding by the U.S. House of Representatives, included in a continuing resolution to fund the federal government until March 14, 2025. The funding amounts to $110 billion, with a significant portion allocated to assist Western North Carolina communities affected by Hurricane Helene.

Edwards emphasized his commitment as a member of the House Appropriations Committee to prioritize disaster relief for his constituents. “As a member of the House Appropriations Committee, my priority upon returning to Washington following Hurricane Helene was to draft a framework for disaster funding to help Western North Carolinians recover from the worst natural disaster to hit our mountains,” he stated.

The congressman praised the community spirit displayed by residents in response to the hurricane’s devastation. “The citizens of Western North Carolina pulled together in such monumental ways to help one another, and now these additional funds will help folks across North Carolina’s 11th District rebuild communities and put our lives back together,” Edwards said.

He also reaffirmed his dedication to advocating for continued support throughout the recovery process. “Just as I have helped funding for disaster relief pass the U.S. House to aid folks in our mountains, I will continue to advocate for the needs of our district in the long road to recovery ahead.”
