FOIA Request to Henderson County Election Department Regarding Pre-Election Voting Machine Test Reports on October 30, 2024.

As part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at South Asheville News have sent a request under the North Carolina Public Records Law, G.S. §132-1., for records related to pre-election voting machine test reports.

The request specifically asks for the reports in electronic format, preferably in PDF, with specific fields including the test date, machine manufacture, machine model number, and machine status (pass or fail).

We believe that access to these public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we have also requested a fee waiver.

We will continue to keep you updated as we gather more information about this matter. Our goal is always to ensure transparency and accountability in our local government institutions.
