Mountain BizWorks said that it selected companies for a new program that would focus on minority entrepreneurs.
The Catalyst Cohort program is for entrepreneurs of color, Moutain BizWorks said in an October release, adding that it also focuses on the "fast-growing Western North Carolina" businesses.
"We're excited to welcome such an impressive group of entrepreneurs," Mountain BizWorks Executive Director Matthew Raker said in the release.
The organization selected 10 companies for the cohort offering a wide range of services, including Kente Kitchen, which provides West African food and is an African grocery.
The businesses selected will receive training that will help them learn to grow their enterprise aggressively and efficiently.
"These companies get the chance to support one another on their respective entrepreneurial journeys," Raker said in the release. "Championing the ups and downs of the economy as a group will reinforce the startup ecosystem's social capital in Western North Carolina. Beyond that, participants will find that the program builds resiliency."
