Blue Ridge Community College issued the following announcement on Aug. 24.
Blue Ridge Community College recently met the criteria for renewal of program accreditation in Master Automobile Service Technology – the highest level of program accreditation recognized by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) and the ASE Education Foundation.
Blue Ridge’s Automotive Systems Technology program prepares individuals for employment as entry-level transportation service technicians. The program provides an introduction to transportation industry careers and increases student awareness of the diverse technologies associated with this dynamic and challenging field.
“ASE is the leader in recognizing and certifying automotive technicians and other transportation personnel across the nation,” stated Blue Ridge Dean of Advanced Technologies Joe Shook. “Many of our industry partners include ASE certification status as part of their training requirements for advancement.”
ASE commended the College for maintaining the program’s standards and continuing to meet the industry’s requirements. It stated how the explosion in automotive technology made Blue Ridge’s high quality automotive training program all the more valuable.
“We are fortunate to be a part of the ASE organization and be accredited by the ASE Education Foundation, where together, we are growing the automotive technician workforce,” Shook added.
To acknowledge the accomplishment, ASE is creating a plaque insert for the College.
The renewed accreditation lasts until Sept. 1, 2026.
