Transylvania County Library recently issued the following announcement.

On the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm, children can drop in to the Youth Services area and read aloud to a furry pal!

Benefits of reading with a dog:

  • Non-judgmental audience
  • Relaxing, low pressure setting
  • Positive experience with reading
  • Builds confidence & reading skills
The Library uses volunteers and therapy dogs from the 5 Paws Therapy Group. All dogs are registered through the Alliance of Therapy Dogs.
