On April 22, Blue Ridge Community College will unveil a versatile new Public Safety Training Facility located on its Henderson County Campus at 1 p.m.
The hour-long indoor event will feature public safety and local government representatives, first responder vehicles and equipment, and a combined honor guard featuring representatives of both the Henderson County Law Enforcement Honor Guard and the Henderson County Fire and Rescue Honor Guard.
“Henderson County is pleased to join with Blue Ridge Community College and our partners in public safety to celebrate the opening of this important facility,” said County Manager John Mitchell. “We recognize that public safety training is a top priority. This investment will serve our community for many years to come.”
Media are invited to attend the celebration alongside myriad public safety personnel from Henderson and Transylvania counties, Henderson County commissioners, elected officials, the Blue Ridge Educational Foundation Board of Directors, and College trustees, faculty and staff.

The Ribbon Cutting and Program Showcase event celebrates the completion of the 6,500-square-foot $1.2M facility where College programs will train fire and emergency first responders, law enforcement officers, and other public safety professionals. Adjacent to the established Fire Training Center, Blue Ridge’s Public Safety Training Facility meets state requirements for the College Basic Law Enforcement Training Program as well as provides flexible multi-use indoor training space for all public safety training needs.
The Henderson County Board of Commissioners contributed $1M to the Cooper Construction project, with $200,000 provided by the Blue Ridge Community College Educational Foundation.
