Rosman High School Names New Head Football Coach

The Rosman High School football team will have a new coach leading the Tigers in 2023, Tyrea Allen, longtime Rosman High coach and teacher.

“Rosman High School is very fortunate and honored to name Tyrea Allen as the next Head Football Coach,” expressed Rosman High School principal Jason Ormsby.  Coach Allen has been part of the community for several years, and his character and compassion for the students of Rosman are unmatched. Tyrea will bring a wealth of knowledge to the program, and his work ethic will help ensure that the Rosman Football Program will progress each year.  The most important attribute Coach Allen will bring to our school is that he will teach our young people how to set goals, work toward those goals, and appreciate the hard work done to achieve those goals.

Allen began coaching in Rosman in 2009, helping with Rosman Middle School basketball. His coaching abilities were quickly evident to all, and he began working with the track team and soon after was asked to assist with football. Allen coached in various assisting capacities from 2009- 2016.

It was evident that Allen loved coaching and the students, and in 2019 he began his teaching career as a Social Studies teacher at Rosman High School and jumped right back into assisting with football. Allen was named the Rosman High JV Football head coach beginning with the 2020-2021 season. In his three years as head coach, the JV Tigers have a record of 8-10.

“When I was asked to be the next head football coach for Rosman, there was a pause due to the shock of knowing I was considered for such an important task.  Upon reflection, I realized, by accepting this opportunity, what a tremendous blessing I had received.” Allen said about the opportunity to lead the Tigers. “My experience and love for this community and the game of football have helped to prepare me for taking on the challenges that lay ahead.  I know there is a lot of work to be done, and I am willing to go above and beyond to help this program to be successful.  This honor that has been placed upon me, I do not take lightly, and I am excited to get started.”

County athletic director Alan Justice stated, “Coach Allen is the right person at the right time for the Tigers, and I'm excited to see what he can do with the program.”

A 2004 graduate of Murphy High School and multi-sport athlete, Allen received All-Conference honors in baseball, football, and track. He continued as a student-athlete at Mars Hill University, where he played football and ran track, and in 2009 graduated with a B.A. in graphic design.

Allen's talent and love for football didn’t stop there, and after completing college, he played Professional Football overseas. He spent two years playing in Germany for the German Football League (GLF) and two years playing for Team USA across Europe.

Athletic Director Jennifer McCall is excited for Coach Allen to take over the program stating, “Tyrea brings an abundance of football knowledge, energy, and love to the position.  His infectious attitude and work ethic will bring excitement to Rosman Tiger Football and the community.”

Allen officially begins as head football coach on December 12, 2022.
