U.S. Congressman Chuck Edwards of North Carolina's 11th district commented on President Trump's recent visit to Western North Carolina. The visit follows the impact of Hurricane Helene on the region.
"During President Trump’s visit to Western North Carolina, I had the privilege of showing him how federal disaster funds that I authored are already at work to help aid in Western North Carolina’s recovery," said Edwards.
The congressman emphasized the resilience of local residents and noted that the president's presence was significant for those affected by the hurricane. "The president also witnessed the resilience of Western North Carolinians whose lives have been turned upside down by Hurricane Helene, and his presence sent a strong message to the people of our mountains that we are not forgotten."
Edwards reaffirmed his commitment to securing necessary funds for recovery efforts and expressed his intent to collaborate with both President Trump and congressional colleagues. "I will continue to fight for every dollar that is needed to help WNC rebuild and look forward to working with President Trump and my House colleagues to fix FEMA so that our nation is fully prepared to respond to future disasters."
