Transylvania County Sheriff’s Office to Crack Down on Drunk Drivers During St. Patrick’s Day Enforcement Campaign

If you decide to drink and drive this St. Patrick’s Day, luck will not be on your side in Transylvania County. The Transylvania County Sheriff’s will increase patrols to keep impaired drivers off the roads during the statewide St. Patrick’s Day Booze It or Lose It enforcement campaign, March 13-19.

(“We know alcohol tends to be a part of St. Patrick’s day celebrations, but we implore our citizens to consume responsibly and avoid getting behind the wheel if they’ve been drinking. Have a plan to get home safely so you don’t risk seriously injuring or killing yourself or someone else, or racking up hundreds of dollars in fines with a DWI charge,” said Sheriff Chuck Owenby.)

In  2022, 225 motorists have been killed or seriously injured in alcohol-related crashes on North Carolina roads during the St. Patrick’s Day enforcement campaign period. Last year during this week-long period there were 47 Traffic Crashes in Transylvania County.

Increased enforcement during specific campaign periods year-round is a key part of making North Carolina roads safer.
