***Urgent Scam Alert***+++Please Share With all of your Friends and family we are still receiving reports of this going on today 03/16/2023+++
Transylvania County Sheriff's Office has just received information that there is a SCAM going on right now with people calling claiming to be Deputies associated with this office.
The scammers claim to be deputies with this agency stating a judge has issued an order against them and they need to either pay a fee or go to jail.
The calls are being spoofed and are utilizing a phone number from this office. The scammers are using actual names of officers and actual judges.
We will never call you demanding money to avoid jail time, if you receive a call, from this agency and have questions please call 828-884-3168 and ask for the Deputy.
Just because a call comes from this office does not mean that it is legitimate as numbers can spoofed and changed with certain software.
Please pass this information on to your friends and family as we do not want anyone to fall victim to this scam.
