Across the United States, women account for a small but growing percentage of the justice system. At the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office, women serve in every capacity.
Corporal Tesha McBeth has served with BCSO since 2018. She began her career in the Detention Center and graduated from BLET in 2021.
Currently, she serves as a Transportation Deputy. Before working in transportation, Corporal McBeth served as a Field Training Officer in Court Enforcement.
”Becoming a Law Enforcement Officer was the proudest moment for me, not only because I’m a woman of color, but also because I am the first in my family to wear the shield. There were times during rookie school that I wanted to throw in the towel, but I thought about the scarifies and struggles of those who paved the way and made it possible for me to have the opportunity. Caring for people and ensuring that everyone is treated fairly is the reason why I serve as Law Enforcement Officer,” said Corporal McBeth.
