From  March  6, 2023 post.

Be aware and please share this post! We are continuing to receive reports of callers claiming to be Deputies from the Haywood County Sheriff’s Office and asking for money. Additionally we have taken several reports where a person is calling businesses, claiming to be the owner, and asking employees to take money from the business and deposit in Bitcoin machines!  THIS IS A SCAM!  If you are unsure, do NOT make the transaction and immediately report this to law enforcement!  You may reach the Haywood County Sheriff’s Office on our non-emergency line 24/7 by calling 828-452-6666.
