From  March 19, 2023 post.

As winter comes to a close and we welcome spring, we at the Madison County Sheriff’s Office remember that spring is a great time in our community – a new spring sports season begins, Spring Break for some, and graduation draws near for our students. We enjoy celebrating these good times in our community.

If our deputies – including our reserve deputies – can help with traffic control or security monitoring at special events, please call the Patrol Division Commander at 256-533-8846 well before a scheduled event.  If possible, we will help provide coverage for your special occasions.

We also want to remind you that with the warmer weather, children may be playing near our roads. Please take extra caution and slow down when driving through residential neighborhoods. And remember, children, learn by watching us. If you're traveling with a child, please model good driving habits, including:

• Wear your seat belt.• Obey the speed limit.• Slow down near schools and neighborhoods (and explain why this is important)• Do not text while driving.• Make sure children are in the correct car seat.

For more driving safety tips, please visit the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration at: www.nhtsa.gov/road-safety.

Thank you for keeping our roads and our citizens safe, and we look forward to the great times that spring will bring!

Sheriff Kevin H. Turner
