Detention Officer Darielis Vicente Linares has served the Buncombe County Sheriff's Office as a Detention Officer in the Buncombe County Detention Facility for almost two years.
"Working at the Detention Center allows me an opportunity to help people during what can be a challenging time. It's definitely a tough profession, but with the right attitude and perseverance, you can really make a difference. I was raised by a strong Cuban mother, and on the hardest days of being in this line of duty, I remember I carry her strength and the strength of the women generations before me who weren't always in a place to pursue their passions and dreams. Women's History Month is a great time to recognize all the women who have supported, uplifted, encouraged, mentored, and pushed me to pursue my dreams. I hope my experiences encourage more women like me to feel empowered to join this line of duty and pursue a career in law enforcement," said Detention Officer Vicente Linares.
