The North Carolina House of Representatives passed legislation in June designed to make it simpler for veterans and their spouses to find employment.
“In North Carolina, we have always striven to be the most military-friendly state in the nation,” Rep. John Bell (R-Greene) said, The Caswell Messenger reported on June 10. “This bill is yet another important step we can take to help support and improve the quality of life for North Carolina veterans, military service members and their spouses.”
The legislation targets multiple regulatory areas, particularly when it comes to a veteran or spouse trying to earn a needed license for a particular type of work, The Caswell Messenger reported. The bill reduces the requirements given that military members may have earned something similar or received training that already satisfies state requirements. It would also improve notifications about opportunities for veterans and their families.
"We must continue our work to make NC the most veteran-friendly state in the nation," Rep. Jake Johnson (R-Henderson) wrote in a Facebook post on June 11.
