Sen. Chuck Edwards (R-Buncombe) showing his support for small business owners in his district by stating their voices must be heard, and certainly when it comes to reopening plans.
"The voices of small business owners about the inconsistent reopening of the state must be heard," Edwards said in a July 21 Facebook post. "At this listening session, about 20 of them shared their story. Several bills have been introduced to help, vetos issued, their concerns addressed, passed again with bipartisan votes, then many flip-flopped and stood with [the] governor on veto override rather than sticking with the original vote. This shouldn’t be about politics. It should be about safely and responsibly allowing people to provide for their families."
Edwards was commenting on a post written by North Carolina Republican Party Chairman Micheal Whatley, who was praising a recent meeting for dozens of small business owners in Western North Carolina.
"Hosted a fantastic Roundtable in Hendersonville and met with dozens of small business owners and local officials who need certainty and transparency on reopening NC schools and economy," Whatley in a Facebook post on July 21. "Gov. [Roy] Cooper has crippled businesses and local governments all across Western North Carolina - and he refuses to meet with or listen to their stories. Thanks to Rep. Chuck McGrady [R-Henderson] and Sen. Chuck Edwards for their leadership."
